Some information on butterfly.

Butterfly is found all over the world. But it lives in great numbers in tropicalr egions. The oriental region of Asia has many species. The butterfly is one of the more mobile group of faunas which moves from one place to other at its will.
Swallowtail butterfly is a large species, colourful and attractive from the family papilionida. There are about 500 species, majority are in tropical. The members of this family are found in all continents except the icy antartica. This family also includes largest butterfly in the word, the birdwing butterfly of Australia. It is being the target of the butterfly collectors previously. The largest one of this family that is Birdwing which is being sought after and now it is being cultured in farms for collectors purpose. This butterfly is brought under three sub groups like Baroninae, parnasinae, papilioninae. The 2nd and 3rd are further parted into tribes.
Monarch butterfly wing span ranges between 3 1/2 and 4 inches.
The male monarch has black patch. The male is slightly larger. The monarchs are noted for their lengthy annual migration. This is the only species that migrate like birds. [more than 3000 KM] at a speed between 8 and 15 km p.h.
The monarchs are found in a wide range of habitats such as fields, meadows, urban and suburban parks, gardens, road sides.
In Vietnam there are 350 species of butterfly found. But this fauna is relatively lesser known. Here under, i am posting some of the beautiful butterflies that are picture by Vietnam Post in their stamps. They may not be complete set. But it is posted for information of viewers. Also a postally used cover is also posted.
